The Two Witnesses

The “Two” Witnesses . . .

NOTE: We use the Creator’s original Self-given Hebrew Name, YHVH (pronounced

Ye-hu’-ah), and the original Hebrew name given by Him through the angel Gabriel (Matthew 1:21) to be the Messiah’s name, Ye-shu’a, which is “he will save” in Hebrew (Strong’s H3442). We also refer to what Christianity disparagingly calls the “Old Testament” with the Hebrew name for it, the Tanakh; to “the Law” as Torah; and to the “New Testament” as the Renewed Covenant Scriptures. Oh, that they had such a heart in them, that they would fear Me (YHVH) and keep all My commandments always, that it may be well with them and with their children forever! Deuteronomy 5:29

Now if a person sins and does any of the things which YHVH has commanded not to be done, even though he was unaware, still he is guilty and shall bear his punishment.”
Leviticus 5:17

For I am YHVH and I do not change.” Malachi 3:6

For God does not show favoritism.
All who sin apart from the Law will also perish apart from the Law,
and all who sin subject to the Law will be judged by the Law.
For it is
not those who hear the Law who are righteous in God’s sight,
but it is
those who obey the Law who will be declared righteous. Romans 2:11-13

Everyone who sins breaks the Law; in fact, sin is lawlessness. 1 John 3:4

Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, as a workman who does not
need to be ashamed, accurately handling the Word of Truth.
2 Timothy 2:15

8 Then that lawless one (the AntiChrist) will be revealed whom the Lord will slay with the breath of His mouth and bring to an end by the appearance of His coming;

9 that is, the one whose coming is in accord with the activity of Satan, with all power and signs and false wonders,

10 and with all the deception of wickedness for those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth so as to be saved.

11 For this reason God will send upon them a deluding influence so that they will believe what is false,

12 in order that they all may be judged who did not believe the truth, but took pleasure in wickedness. 2 Thessalonians 2:8-12

Next, some definitions:

  • Torah – (Strong’s H8451) Translated in almost all English language Bibles today as “the Law”, but actually means “teaching” or “instruction” in Hebrew. It may refer to either: (1) the first five books of the “Old Testament” (Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy); or to (2) all of the commandments of God (YHVH Elohim) in the entire “Old Testament”/Tanakh; or to (3) all of the commandments of God in the entire Christian Bible, whether from Him directly, or through the prophets, or through the Lord Yeshua. Lastly (4), Rabbinic Jews use “Torah” to include their 100% man-made “oral law”/“oral Torah”, now written down as the Talmud, Zohar, Kabballah, Mishna Torah, etc. So the actual meaning of the word is 100% dependent on the context in which it is used. Be careful.

  • Tanakh – A Hebrew word used to refer to all of the Christian “Old Testament”. It is actually a vocalized acronym, TNK, formed from the first letters of Torah (the first five books), Nevi’im (the Major Prophets), and Ketuvim (the Writings, which is the so-called Minor Prophets, the rest of what Christians disparagingly call “the Old Testament”).

  • Jew – This may mean any of the following, depending entirely on the context:
    (1) anyone who simply claims to be a “Jew”; or, (2) a genetic descendant of Judah/ Yehudah, one of the twelve original tribes of “the children of Israel/Jacob”, also called a Sephardic Jew, or Sephardim; or, (3) a supposed descendant of those of the Khazar race from eastern Europe, who became “Jews” when their emperor did, sometime in the 8th Century AD. These are called Ashkenazic Jews, or Ashkenazim. These account for about 80% of all “Jews” worldwide, although the percentage is much higher in “Israel”, where Ashkenazim control most of the government.

  • Israel – In the Hebrew Tanakh/“Old Testament”, “Israel” was the name given by the angel of YHVH to Jacob after they wrestled. (Genesis 32:28) The name means “struggles with God”. Please note that Jacob was surely NOT actually struggling with YHVH Elohim/God Himself, but with one of His angels, who was acting as His shaliach (Strong’s H7975), one sent by another as his or her fully-empowered agent or proxy. Yeshua was and is also a shaliach of YHVH Elohim, as we are of him. See our article, “Shaliach Yeshua” http://tinyurl.com/Shaliach-Yeshua.

  • Israel” – In our writings, we indicate today’s 100% secular nation called “Israel” with quotation marks to distinguish it from the Israel of the Bible. Along with many orthodox Jews (JewsAgainstZionism.org; Karaites, et al.) we do NOT recognize today’s nation called “Israel” as being any kind of righteous manifestation of the end-times prophecies concerning the restoration of “the children of Israel” to the Promised Land which they once occupied. See our article “Is Zionism of God?”

The Two Witnesses . . .

3 And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days (3½ years), clothed in sackcloth.

4 These are the two olive trees, and the two candlesticks standing before (witnessing against) the god of the earth (Satan – 2 Corinthians 4:4).

5 And if any one would hurt them, fire proceeds out of their mouth, and devours their enemies: and if any man would hurt them, he must in this manner be killed.

6 These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy: and have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will.

7 And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascends out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them.

8 And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.

9 And they of the people and kindreds and tongues and nations shall see their dead bodies three days and an half, and shall not allow their dead bodies to be put in graves.

10 And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall send gifts one to another; because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth.

11 And after three days and an half the Spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet; and great fear fell upon them which saw them.

12 And they heard a great voice from heaven saying unto them, “Come up hither.” And they ascended up to heaven in a cloud; and their enemies beheld them. [Revelation 11:3-12]

Most evangelical Christians today believe (because they have been taught so) that the “Two” Witnesses are two individuals who wander the streets of Jerusalem preaching hellfire and damnation, causing worldwide droughts and plagues, and literally frying their tormentors with literal flames out of their mouths. There are FOUR huge INTERPRETATIVE errors (which we will prove) in that one sentence:

1.) The “two” witnesses are not two INDIVIDUALS, but two separate GROUPS of people;

2.) The “fire” is not real FIRE, but anointed PREACHING;

3.) The “street of the great city” is not the streets of JERUSALEM, but of THE WORLD.

4.) The resurrection and ascension into heaven of the “two” witnesses is part of the general resurrection of the dead in Christ and the Rapture of the Church, NOT separate events.

Most evangelical Christians today believe (because they have been taught so) that the “two” witnesses are simply two Old Testament prophets, usually Moses and Elijah, since these were actually seen by Peter, James and John speaking with our Lord Yeshua on the Mount of Transfiguration. [Mark 9:2-8] But, since Enoch also was “translated” (assumed bodily into heaven, as Elijah was, and Moses assumed to have been), they usually allow that one of the “two” witnesses could be Enoch, although relatively little is known about him. Which leads us to the…

First Major Problem . . .

1Co 15:50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.

1Co 15:51 Behold, I show you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,

1Co 15:52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

1Co 15:53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.

Since any and all possible Old Testament prophets who might otherwise qualify as one of the two individual witnesses must surely have previously either died (and be “asleep” in their graves) or been assumed bodily into heaven, in which case it is a certainty that they will have already received their glorified, immortal bodies, even as our Lord has. This being the case, just how could they possibly be (re?) killed, so that their (re?) “dead bodies” can lie then in the street of the “great city” for 3½ “days”, or any other amount of time?

Second Major Problem . . .

2 + 2 = 2? Here is one Bible math problem that should raise questions in the mind of anyone who has passed grade school arithmetic (except “Common Core” arithmetic), but doesn’t seem to, at least not for most evangelical Christians:

3 And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days (3½ years), clothed in sackcloth.

4 These are the two (2) olive trees (Torah-true Jews), and (+) the two (2) candlesticks (the righteous disciples of Yeshua) standing before (witnessing against) the god of the earth (Satan). [Note: 2+2=4 witnesses, not 2, so these have to be SYMBOLIC, NOT LITERAL, numbers!]

5 And if any man will hurt them, fire** proceeds out of their mouth, and devours their enemies: and if any man will hurt them, he must in this manner be killed. [Revelation 11:3-7]

[** Jeremiah 5:14 – “Wherefore thus says YHVH, God of hosts, ‘Because you speak this word, behold, I will make my words in your mouth fire, and this people wood, and it shall devour them.’” So the “fire” that comes out of their “mouth” may well be ANOINTED PREACHING, and NOT literal FIRE.]

[NOTE: The witnesses are protected by God during the first 3½ years of the Tribulation, while they are prophesying. However, there is no indication in Scripture that the physical life of anyone who does not prophesy during this time period will be protected by God. Note that this observation has nothing to do with one’s salvation, but only with one’s reward.]

6 These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy: and have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will.

7 And when they shall have finished their testimony (after the first 3½ years of the Tribulation), the beast that ascends out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them.

Many have argued that this cannot refer to the Church because we have Yeshua’s promise that “the gates of sheol shall not prevail against it”. To which we say, the killing of individual saints by the forces of evil – in whatever numbers – has NEVER been equated with the “gates of sheol” “prevailing against” the Church! If that were true, then the killing of a SINGLE saint would mean that the gates of sheol HAD ALREADY prevailed against the Church, since we are all one spiritual “Body”.

In order to understand who the “two” witnesses really are, we MUST understand that all of these references, as well as the number “two”, are SYMBOLIC. And the symbols used in the Bible are fairly consistent, from one end to the other. Here is part of the explanation of the symbolism used:

Zechariah, Chapters 3:(8-10) & 4:(1-14)

8 …for, behold, I will bring forth my servant the BRANCH (Yeshua/“Jesus Christ”). 9 For behold the stone that I have laid before Joshua; upon one stone shall be seven eyes: behold, I will engrave the graving thereof, says YHVH of hosts, and I will remove the iniquity of that land in one day.

10 In that day, says YHVH of hosts, shall you call every man his neighbor under the vine and under the fig tree.

4:1 And the angel that talked with me came again, and waked me, as a man that is wakened out of his sleep,

2 And said unto me, What do you see? And I said, I have looked, and behold a candlestick all of gold (Yeshua HaMashiach), with a bowl upon the top of it, and his seven lamps thereon (the seven churches), and seven pipes to the seven lamps, which are upon the top thereof (describing a 7-branched menorah):

3 And two olive trees (the witness Israel) by it, one upon the right side of the bowl, and the other upon the left side thereof.

4 So I answered and spoke to the angel that talked with me, saying, What are these, my lord?

5 Then the angel that talked with me answered and said unto me, Do you not know what these be? And I said, No, my lord.

6 Then he answered and spoke unto me, saying, This is the word of YHVH unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says YHVH of hosts...

11 Then answered I, and said unto him, What are these two olive trees upon the right side of the candlestick and upon the left side thereof?

12 And I answered again, and said unto him, What be these two olive branches which through the two golden pipes empty the golden oil out of themselves?

13 And he answered me and said, Do you not know what these be? And I said, No, my lord.

14 Then said he, These are the two anointed ones (the Two Witnesses), that stand before (witness against) the lord of the whole earth (Satan).

Note: Concerning the interpretation of the “lord of the whole earth”, above, as being Satan, and not YHVH, Paul makes precisely the same identification:

In whom the god of this world has blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.” [2 Corinthians 4:4]

The olive branch is symbolic of Yeshua/“Jesus Christ” as the Righteous One of Israel, The Messiah, which springs from the olive tree, which represents the spiritual life of true Israel (which is the Torah-true Church and all Torah-true righteous Jews). Olive oil represents the holy Spirit of YHVH Elohim. The lampstand/menorah represents the Church. Through the finished work of Yeshua Messiah, the Word of God, the holy Spirit is “poured” into the lamp of the Church, bringing illumination to the world. “Your word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.” [Psalm 119:105]

So the “two” witnesses are those individual (1) “Jews” and (2) “Christians” who are called and anointed by YHVH to wander the “street of the great city” which is BABYLON, the world, and prophesy (speak God’s message) to it, and “fry” people’s consciences with “burning coals” of conviction with their anointed preaching. The wholesale killing of the “two” witnesses BEGINS with the midpoint of the Tribulation, with the onset of the Abomination of Desolation, and CONTINUES until the return of our Lord Yeshua HaMashiach.

Third Major Problem . . .

In the Bible, 2 (two) is universally accepted as the symbolic number of witness. Since one of the “two” witnesses is symbolized by “olive trees” (a plural), which is equally universally accepted to be a symbol of the righteous children of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, we can understand that one of the “Old Testament” Prophets might be used here, IF this is what YHVH intended, and IF he were willing to violate one of the other provisions of his Word, as we have seen. But the other one of the “two” witnesses is referred to as “candlesticks” (another plural), which are generally regarded as being symbolic of the Church, the Body of Messiah. What “New Testament” individual could this possibly be? It can’t be one of the Apostles or anyone else in the New Testament, since they have all (presumably) already died, and “It is given to man once to die and after that, the judgment.” So who could it be? We suggest that it could not be any one human being, for all of the aforementioned reasons.

Fourth Major Problem . . .

As mentioned, pre-Tribbers mostly believe that the “two witnesses” are two individuals who are killed by the forces of the anti-Christ shortly after the mid-point of the Tribulation, at or near the establishment of the Abomination of Desolation, when (we believe that) Satan and his angels are thrown down “into the earth.” [Revelation 12:9] According to this scenario, these “two” individual Old Testament prophets would both be killed by the forces of the anti-Christ shortly after the establishment of the Abomination of Desolation, or about 3½ years before our Lord’s return, at the last trump (1 Corinthians 15:52), which is at the END of the 7 years of the Tribulation.

Why is this a problem? Because of what ALL of the rest of Scripture says about what happens next to the “two” witnesses, and when.

7 And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascends out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them.

[This states that as soon as they finish their testimony, the Beast (Apollyon) starts killing the “two” witnesses. This “starting to kill” happens roughly at the mid-point of the Tribulation. Moreover, the phrase used for the killing is “makes war against”. The Greek word for “war” used here is polemos, which means a full-scale war between large numbers on both sides. It would be grossly inappropriate to use this word to refer to the murder of two defenseless people. ]

8 And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.

[As previously mentioned, “the great city” cannot refer to Jerusalem, since Jerusalem is NEVER referred to anywhere else in the whole Bible as “the great city”. ALL other references to “the great city” in the New Testament refer to Babylon, the wicked world system, except for ONE reference to New Jerusalem [Revelation 21:10]. Also, Jerusalem is NEVER called “Sodom” and “Egypt” anywhere else in the Bible, AND our Lord was NOT crucified in the city of Jerusalem, but outside its walls, at Golgotha, in “the world”, which is surely INthe great city”, Babylon.]

9 And they of the people and kindreds and tongues and nations shall see their dead bodies three days and an half, and shall not allow their dead bodies to be put in graves.

[“They of the people and kindreds and tongues and nations” is another way of saying “all of the lost, unrighteous people in the world”, or “them that dwell upon the earth”. This one line states that all of the lost and damned people in the world shall not “allow” the two measly corpses of the slain witnesses to be put in two graves? If this were to refer to two INDIVIDUALS, how (and WHY?) may “all of the lost people in the world” possibly be involved in a joint decision concerning the corpses of two individuals? The ONLY interpretation of this that makes any sense at all, is if the “two” witnesses are actually two LARGE GROUPS of people – with two completely different sets of spiritual characteristics – which have been killed, all around the world. Namely, the to-be-righteous, Torah-true Jews and the Torah-true Church, together comprising “the woman” of Revelation 12, “righteous spiritual Israel”. – Genesis 37:9-10]

10 And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall send gifts one to another; because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth.

[Again, these two INDIVIDUALS tormented ALL of the unsaved people on the earth without ever leaving the area around Jerusalem? If they did, then these human beings would possess characteristics of deity which the Bible ascribes ONLY to the Father! Again, the idea of two individuals being the “two” witnesses makes no sense in this verse, either. ]

11 And after three days and an half the Spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet; and great fear fell upon them which saw them.

[First, almost ALL numbers used in the Book of the Revelation are SYMBOLIC numbers. Moreover, there is NO other example of a period of 3½ literal days anywhere else in the Bible. IF this “3½ days” were really 3½ literal days, then their resurrection would be happening almost 3½ YEARS BEFORE THE END of the Tribulation! But the following verses establish with absolute certainty that it is actually happening AT Yeshua’s RETURN, which can ONLY be at the END of the Tribulation.]

12 And they heard a great voice from heaven saying unto them, Come up hither!” And they ascended up to heaven in a cloud; and their enemies beheld them.

[“Their enemies beheld them” is a fulfillment of the prophecy in the 23rd Psalm: “Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies”.]

13 And the same hour was there a great earthquake, and the tenth part of the city fell, and in the earthquake were slain of men seven thousand: and the remnant were affrighted, and gave glory to the God of heaven.

[So, in “the same hour” in which the “two” witnesses are resurrected, “the remnant” of “they of the people and kindreds and tongues and nations” (those of lost mankind who were not killed in the earthquake) “give glory to the God of heaven”! We have to ask, “According to all of the rest of Scripture, at what single point during the seven years of the Tribulation do the lost finally ‘give glory to the God of heaven’?” Is there anything else in all of Scripture which even hints that this happens at any time before the end of the Tribulation, when they see the Wrath of God approaching? The answer is a resounding, “NO!”]

14 The second woe is past; and, behold, the third woe comes quickly.

[In other words, what comes next, comes right after what just happened.]

15 And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.

[The “seventh angel sounding” is the Last Trump.

51 Behold, I show you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,

52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. [1 Corinthians 15:51-52]

The Last Trump is the one that announces the impending Return of the Lord Yeshua in glory. Therefore the resurrection of the “two” witnesses happens at the same time as the general resurrection of the dead in Christ, and NOT as a separate, private, by-invitation-only “mini-resurrection” for two impossibly “killed-yet-immortal” Old Testament prophets 3½ LITERAL DAYS after they are “killed”.]

In other words, these listed Bible events cannot possibly happen to two individuals in literal days because:

1.) At the mid-point of the seven years of the Tribulation, with 3½ years to go to YHVH’s return, the “two” witnesses complete their testimony, and immediately

2.) the forces of the anti-Christ start killing them, and…

3.) their dead bodies lie in the street for 3½ “days”, at the end of which…

4.) they are resurrected and their enemies behold them being raptured. Immediately (“in the same hour”) after this

5.) there is a great earthquake, and the tenth part of “the city” falls, and what happens next “comes quickly”, which is…

6.) the seventh trump sounding, which – as we all (I pray) will agree – announces the imminent return of the Lord Yeshua, which is at the end of the 3½ years of the Great Tribulation, or 3½ years after the anti-Christ started killing the “two” witnesses.

So if the “two” witnesses are resurrected and raptured only 3½ LITERAL 24-hour DAYS into the Great Tribulation, and the seventh trump sounds immediately thereafter, and we know that this will not happen until 3½ YEARS from the establishment of the Abomination of Desolation, how is it even possible to reconcile this literal interpretation of the 3½ literal days and the “two” witnesses’ roles with the rest of scripture? Answer: It’s not!

Therefore the dead bodies lie in the “street of the great city” for 3½ literal years, not 3½ literal days. When the voice from heaven says, “Come up here” and the dead bodies are revived and taken up into the air, in sight of their enemies, this is necessarily the SAME event described by Paul in 1 Thessalonians 4:15-17, which is the FIRST AND ONLY GENERAL RESURRECTION OF THE RIGHTEOUS DEAD IN CHRIST, not only of the Two Witnesses, but of ALL of “the dead in Christ”. And “we who remain” will be caught up together with them in the air, and thus shall we ever be with the Lord. ALL of us, all at the SAME time. Tidy, isn’t it? No loose ends, and no trick pre-Trib accounting involved, either.

This means that one of the “Two Witnesses” is the witnessing disciples of the Lord Yeshua. As members of the Body of Christ, the Church of Yeshua Christ, this means that some of us are expected to be doing the witnessing, the prophesying, and the “frying”, not two impossibly reincarnated prophets from the Old Testament. No, they’ve already paid their dues. Now it’s our turn. John the Baptist, “the voice of one crying, “In the wilderness…” [Matthew 3:3], was witness to the first coming of Christ. But who is going to bring the message of repentance to a lost and dying world in anticipation of the Second Coming? the Lord Yeshua asks the same thing in Luke 18:8:

“Nevertheless when the Son of man comes, shall he find faith on the earth?”

Which leads us to the . . .

Fifth Major Problem . . .

Yeshua’s question encompasses the entire earth, not just the immediate neighborhood of Jerusalem, where most evangelical Christians would have us believe their two individual witnesses will be preaching for the first half of the Tribulation (correct, so far), then both two of ‘em will be killed in a very short period of time by the anti-Christ, lie dead in the streets of Jerusalem for 3½ 24-hour days, then have their own private mini-rapture. Right. What, pray tell, would be the point of that? What would be accomplished for the kingdom of God and for His glory by such a bizarre chain of events?

Moreover, how much witnessing could two individuals possibly do in 3½ literal days?

Let us get this straight. “Two” (count ‘em: 1, 2) “Old Testament prophets” are supposedly preaching in the streets of “Jerusalem” for the first 3½ days of the Tribulation, causing all these worldwide plagues and havoc, but the only people who could actually hear their prophetic message would be those few within the sound of their voices! Would this be fair to those who would be suffering from the worldwide plagues without being able to hear the two witnesses’ message of repentance and redemption? We don’t think so. Fox News or no Fox News, that would take a worldwide preaching ministry, involving millions of witnesses.

The Real Deal . . .

But how does the Bible say that faith comes to ANY man or woman?

So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.” [Romans 10:17]

And how does YHVH propose that the remainder of the lost shall hear the gospel? In exactly the same way that everyone else on earth has:

How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they

believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!” [Romans 10:14-15]

In the Book of the Revelation, He answers the same question quite explicitly:

And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy [i.e., speak God’s messages to mankind] a thousand two hundred and threescore days, [3½ years] clothed in sackcloth. These are the two olive trees [Torah-true Jews], and the two lampstands [the Church] standing before the god of the earth [which is Satan].” [Revelation 11:3-4]

The “Two Witnesses” therefore cannot be only two individuals, because Revelation 11:3-4 states that “These are the two olive trees, and the two lampstands standing before the god of the earth.” If taken literally (as all dispensationalists are fond of claiming), this would already be four, not two, witnesses. The identity of one of the witnesses are all living Torah-true Jews ( symbolized by the two olive trees, which will be all those Jews who are alive at the start of the Tribulation whom the Father knows are going to accept Yeshua as HaMashiach, according to the foreknowledge of the Father [1 Peter 1:2], but who will not actually BE righteous until Christ’s return).

The identity of the other witness is the righteous Church ( symbolized by the lampstands/ menorahs, which will be all Torah-true Christians who are alive at the start of the Tribulation, who will also be righteous at Christ’s return), together they comprise “the woman and her seed” of Revelation 12, which “woman” represents “spiritual Israel”, the completed Body of Christ. They stand before (bear witness against) “the god of this world”, which is Satan. [2 Corinthians 4:4].

For Whom Does This Bell Toll?

The halfway point of the Tribulation is to begin the most horrendous, cataclysmic chain of events in human history. A steady escalation in frequency and intensity of worldwide earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, storms, meteor showers, plagues, famine, race wars, religious wars, class warfare, religious persecution, demonic possession of millions of unsuspecting people, angels masquerading as humans and impregnating human females (the Nephilim), terrifying signs in the heavens, and everywhere lies, deceit and treachery. It will be the logical culmination of the world’s rejection of God, the ultimate expression of God’s justice on the earth, when unrepentant Man gets exactly what he deserves.

When the Tribulation starts, our Lord tells us that he will send his “two” witnesses to warn the lost and dying world one last time before the Abomination of Desolation is set up. But still another purpose of the “two witnesses” is found in the Torah:

Deu 17:2 If there be found among you, within any of your gates which YHVH your Elohim gives you, any man or woman who has worked wickedness in the sight of YHVH your Elohim, in transgressing his covenant,

Deu 17:3 And has gone and served other gods, and worshipped them, either the sun, or moon, or any of the host of heaven, which I have not commanded;

Deu 17:4 And it be told you, and you have heard of it, and asked diligently, and, behold, it be true, and the thing certain, that such abomination is wrought in Israel:

Deu 17:5 Then shall you bring forth that man or that woman, which has committed that wicked thing, unto your place of execution, even that man or that woman, and shall stone them with stones, till they die.

Deu 17:6 At the mouth of two witnesses, or three witnesses, shall he that is worthy of death be put to death; but at the mouth of one witness he shall not be put to death.

Deu 17:7 The hands of the witnesses shall be first upon him to put him to death, and afterward the hands of all the people. In this manner shall you put the evil away from among you.

According to this, it is part and parcel of the eternal Torah of YHVH Elohim that there be at least TWO RIGHTEOUS WITNESSES to any crimes against the covenant of YHVH. Please note that YHVH Elohim has never entered into a covenant with any people on earth OTHER THAN the children of Israel at Mount Sinai. And we know that there are some Torah-true disciples of our Lord Yeshua who will be “found worthy to escape all these things which shall come to pass” (Luke 21:36), and to be transported – as part of “the woman” of Revelation 12 – to her place of sanctuary on the earth by the angels/“eagles” of YHVH. So, whether they are two individuals or two groups of people, the “two witnesses” must therefore BOTH be righteous before YHVH Elohim according to that same covenant! Righteousness means keeping Torah, which means obeying ALL of the commandments of God as they are recorded in the entire Christian Bible, as they apply to the individual today! (Leviticus 5:17; 26:15; Numbers 15:40; Deuteronomy 5:29; 1 Kings 6:12; et al.)

So the presence of the Two Witnesses on earth during the worst worldwide mass wickedness since the fall of Lucifer’s pre-Adamic kingdom is absolutely essential to the execution of the guilty under Torah! Torah states that, in the absence of such witnesses, none of the guilty could be put to death! Moreover, the Two Witnesses will be available to give their testimony at the Second Resurrection (of the wicked) and the White Throne Judgment at the end of the Millennial Reign of Yeshua HaMashiach.

There was no possibility of any similar two witnesses in the case of the annihilation of Satan’s wicked pre-Adamic kingdom because ALL of its members, up to and including the king (Satan), were equally guilty and condemned. There WERE NO righteous mortals in that entire accursed kingdom to BE witnesses to the righteousness of YHVH’s judgment, other than He Himself!

It should be clear in this analysis that no two individuals could possibly be adequate to the witnessing of ALL of the wickedness against the Torah of YHVH by “the synagogue of Satan” (rabbinic, Talmudic Jews – Rev. 2:9 & 3:9) and by apostate Christians (Catholics and most “Protestants”) during the first half of the seven years of the Tribulation. Since we can see that there is NO WAY that any two individuals could possibly meet the requirements of the eternal Torah of YHVH, then it necessarily follows that the “two” witnesses MUST therefore be two different GROUPS of righteous people. Because of the symbols used, we assert that these are Torah-true Jews and Torah-true disciples of Yeshua of Nazareth, around the entire world.

Since these things must be, then it necessarily follows that “the street of the great city” (Revelation 11:8) cannot refer to the streets of Jerusalem, but MUST refer to the worldwide wicked realm of the “king of Babylon” (Jeremiah 27-33), Satan. That this is what is being referred to is confirmed by the rest of the quotation:

Rev 11:8 And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.

As previously detailed, Jerusalem is never called “the great city” anywhere ELSE in the Bible. It is only referred to as “a” great city ONCE (Jeremiah 22:8), and that is in comparing its then-present devastation with its prior glory under Solomon. ALL OTHER REFERENCES to “the great city” in the Book of the Revelation refer to BABYLON, which IS the spiritual kingdom of Satan, the “king of Babylon”, which IS the wicked world system which he rules today, which he HAS ruled since the Garden of Eden, and which he WILL rule until the return of our Lord Yeshua HaMashiach! (Jeremiah 30:8)

Moreover, our Lord was NOT crucified IN Jerusalem, but at Golgotha, which is OUTSIDE the walls of the city of Jerusalem, as required by Torah itself, in that no sacrifice for sin (which Yeshua surely was!) may be killed within the city! Witness the stoning of Stephen, as recorded in Acts:

Act 7:54 When they heard these things, they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed on him with their teeth.

Act 7:55 But he, being full of the holy Spirit, looked up steadfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Yeshua standing on the right hand of God,

Act 7:56 And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God.

Act 7:57 Then they cried out with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and ran upon him with one accord,

Act 7:58 And cast him out of the city, and stoned him:

Num 35:33 So you shall not pollute the land wherein you are: for blood (of innocent slain) defiles the land: and the land cannot be cleansed from the (innocent) blood that is shed therein, except by the blood of him that shed it.

Which is why the streets of Jerusalem, and the land of Israel, and the entire world must run red with the blood of those whom Yeshua labeled fake Jews (the “synagogue of Satan”- Revelation 2:9 & 3:9), and of the apostate Christians (all who accept the Mark of the Beast – Revelation 14:9-11). The land MUST be cleansed before the feet of Yeshua HaMashiach can touch the Mount of Olives, after his enemies have been made his footstool, entirely by the power and Plan/Logos of the Father.

Psalm 110:1 <A Psalm of David.> YHVH said unto my lord (adoni, a term NEVER used of deity), “Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool.” Yeshua indirectly claimed that this Messianic prophecy applied to him [Mark 12:36; Luke 20:42], and in so doing, indirectly asserted his non-deity.

Whom Will He Send?

The main question for the Church now is whether this means all begotten-again Christians, or just specific people whom the Father will “send” via visions, dreams, etc. There are two main reasons that we do not expect all Christians to be sent out to witness for YHVH.

First, there are no such specific instructions anywhere in the Bible, neither in the Tanakh nor in the “New Testament”. Second, we look at what the consequences would be if, seven years before Yeshua’s expected return, all begotten-again Christians were to suddenly appear on the streets of America (for example), all at once, all dressed in sackcloth and ashes, and all shouting the same message. One predictable result would be that non-Christian Americans would soon demand that the government take steps to get rid of the nuisance. Since we expect that “the government” in the U.S. at the beginning of the Tribulation may well be that of the “eleventh horn” himself, we would expect that all visible Christian Witnesses would be swiftly rounded up and disposed of. If this were to happen, there would be no one left to “flee to the mountains” at the establishment of the Abomination of Desolation, as the Lord Yeshua commands his OBEDIENT disciples to do (Matthew 24:15) at the mid-point of the Tribulation.

Nevertheless, some of us will be called to serve YHVH as members of the Two Witnesses. So, if we take our Lord’s words seriously, we should start preparing to be sent to prophesy (speak God’s messages) to the lost and dying world during the first half of the Tribulation. We are to be “clothed in sackcloth”, which indicates to the world that we are expressing contrition, sorrow, and repentance, and that they should also.

A Time for Self-Examination . . .

This means that during this horribly dangerous time that YHVH expects the Witnesses to . . .

Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all patience and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but they, having itching ears, shall gather to themselves teachers after their own lusts; and they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

But be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of your calling. For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:

Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which YHVH, the righteous

judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love His appearing.” [2 Timothy 4:2-8]

But why two witnesses? The Tribulation is that period of time which leads up to God’s judgment upon unrepentant mankind. Anyone found guilty will be put to death, the second death (Revelation 2:11) – permanent, spiritual death, annihilation in the Lake of Fire. For this, God’s Law – which is a reflection of His infinitely just nature – requires at least two witnesses: “At the mouth of two witnesses, or three witnesses, shall he that is worthy of death be put to death; but at the mouth of one witness he shall not be put to death.” [Deuteronomy 17:6]

At the White Throne Judgment, at the end of the 1,000-year reign of the Lord Yeshua in Jerusalem, the Two Witnesses will be present to testify against the evil deeds of the entire lost, wicked world. In order to bear witness against these evil deeds, the Two Witnesses must have been in the thick of things. This will be the first half of the Tribulation. But, as soon as the “Abomination of Desolation” is set up, their duty is completed, and the righteous Jews and the Church (including those who served as the Two Witnesses, and who manage to escape) are told to flee for their lives, for their divine protection will be removed, and they will be entirely vulnerable to the forces of the anti-Christ and the False Prophet from that point on. The words of our Lord Yeshua:

15 When you therefore shall see the Abomination of Desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso reads, let him understand:)

16 Then let them which be in Judah [ioudaios, Strong’s G2453 – belonging to Yehudah/ Judah, which is Yeshua’s tribe, in which all of his Torah-true disciples surely are, by adoption! – Ephesians 1:5 ] FLEE into the mountains: [Note: “into the mountains” is symbolic language signifying any relatively remote, uninhabited area.]

17 Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take anything out of his house:

18 Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes.

19 And woe unto them that are pregnant, and to them that are nursing infants in those days!

20 But pray that your flight be not in the winter, neither on a Sabbath:

21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

22 And unless those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened. [Matthew 24:15-22]

The Two Witnesses are clothed in sackcloth. In the Bible, sackcloth is worn by people who are in mourning for a great loss, and/or who are expressing grief, sorrow, and contrition, for themselves, for others, for their country, and/or for the world.

But how are we supposed to DO this in THIS day and age?

Dressing for Success . . . .

So, are the Two Witnesses to buy a 40-foot motor home and travel around from place to place, hopping out from time to time, dressed in sackcloth and ashes, and carrying signs that say “Repent!” until the sun goes down, then retire to the comfort of their “land yacht” for the night? Well, what did our Lord tell the apostles about this same issue when He sent them out to witness?

7 And he called unto him the twelve, and began to send them forth by two and two; and gave them power over unclean spirits;

8 And commanded them that they should take nothing for their journey, save a staff only; no scrip, no bread, no money in their purse:

9 But be shod with sandals; and do not take two coats. [Mark 6:7-9]

So, how do you think that the apostles reacted to these unsettling instructions? With boundless glee? We suspect not. But, true disciples that they were, they literally “stepped out in faith”, in reliance on His word. And when they had returned, he lovingly rebuked them for their lack of faith at that time, with this:

And he said unto them, ‘When I sent you without purse, and money, and shoes, did you lack any thing?’ And they said, ‘Nothing.’” [Luke 22:35]

What should be clear from this is that we are to utterly rely on our Father’s ability and intention to provide for our needs while we are in the world witnessing. So, if we expect to enjoy His protection, then our reliance on His provision must be complete and unconditional. If He wills that we suffer, it is for our own good. Peter understood this perfectly.

8 Finally, be you all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be full of pity, be courteous: 9 Not rendering evil for evil, or accusation for accusation: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that you are thereunto called, that you should inherit a blessing. 10 For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no deception: 11 Let him avoid evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and follow it,

12 For the eyes of YHVH are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of YHVH is against them that do evil. 13 And who is he that will harm you, if you be followers of that which is good? 14 But and if you suffer for righteousness’ sake, happy are you: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled; 15 But sanctify YHVH Elohim in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asks you a reason for the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:

16 Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good behavior in Christ.

17 For it is better, if the will of God be so, that you suffer for doing well, than for doing evil. [1 Peter 3:8-17]

And so also with Paul: [Philippians 4: 11-13] 11 Not that I speak in respect of need: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.

12 I know both how to be needy, and I know how to abound: everywhere and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. 13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. . . . And so must we.

Even if we come to understand and agree that we may have to “hit the road” at some future time as one of the “Two Witnesses” in Yeshua’s service, does anyone believe that they will be able to do this tomorrow, unless they are ready today? This is a matter of spiritual conditioning, and most of us are spiritual couch-potatoes, if the truth be known. Nor do the authors exempt ourselves from this accusation. The world is too much with us, and we walk away from our comforts and predictable, circumscribed lives with great reluctance and anxiety. Spiritual preparation for such a transformational life experience is essential, and without much study, prayer and fasting, we will accomplish little of value for his kingdom.

It appears that when Yeshua says, “Come out of her, my people” (Revelation 18:4-5) He expects us to really do it, or else we may expect to share in Babylon’s punishment. “…that you be not partakers of her sins, and that you receive not of her plagues. For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God has remembered her iniquities.”

The “her” above is “Mystery Babylon”, the name of Satan’s worldwide spiritual kingdom on the earth. And the Lord Yeshua is warning “his people” that many of them are believing and doing things which will result in the loss of their salvation, unless they change their behavior and beliefs as he and the Father require! So the issue is salvational, and not a mere literary device to get our attention.

We need to ask ourselves, if one is “in” a whore, what has one been doing with her? The short answer is “Sacrificing something of value, in exchange for the carnal pleasures she offers.” The entire Bible refers to idolatry as “spiritual fornication”, but this is merely one way in which those who are SUPPOSED to be in covenant relationship with YHVH Elohim, the God of the Bible, have chosen to break that covenant with their behavior. Before one engages in “idolatry”, one ALWAYS first departs from Torah in one’s mind. And this is the “lawlessness” (better yet, “Torahlessness”) referred to throughout the “New Testament” (which we prefer to call the Renewed Covenant Scriptures”).

So all who are “in” the Great Whore are actually sacrificing their covenant relationship with the Father and with His Son, in exchange for a particular kind of pleasure or comfort, by following false teachings which “tickle our ears”, i.e., which tell us things that our flesh wants to believe, even though they are explicitly denied by the written Word of God!

Whether we know it or not, almost all of us live “in her” (Babylon/the corrupt world system) right now, to one degree or another. Whether it’s by attending a church for “fellowship”, knowing that it teaches false doctrines; by watching inappropriate TV programs or playing inappropriate video games; by voting for “the lesser of two evils”; by contributing to, or forming, a 501(c)3 IRS-approved church congregation (“no man can serve two masters…” Matthew 6:24; Luke 16:13); by permitting carnal practices in one’s own congregation; by serving as combatants in Babylon’s military forces; or myriad other things, we are almost ALL well and truly “in her”.

The problem is either that we don’t know it, or worse, we know it, but don’t want to leave it. If we do not CHOOSE to leave when our Father commands us to (according to the instructions in His Word), He will most assuredly take us through our own personal “wilderness” just as He did with Israel. It has been said that it only took YHVH one day to get all Israel out of Egypt, but it took forty years of wandering in the desert to get “Egypt” out of Israel.

It has also been said that, between the Promise and the Promised Land, there is always a wilderness. Yochanan the Immerser (“John the Baptist”), whom Yeshua called the “greatest man born of woman”, and likened to “Elijah”, chose to live in the desert, subsisting on insects and wild honey, and wearing animal skins for clothing. To those who went out from the cities to hear him, it was clear from his ascetic lifestyle that John had no part in the corruption which he preached against. That was the point of his witness. There should be no doubt in any Torah-true disciple of Yeshua of Nazareth that this is exactly what YHVH will soon require of those of us who are entirely and truly His, who intend to “wholly follow Him”, as did Joshua and Caleb, alone of all those who left Egypt. They were also the ONLY TWO of that original group who were allowed to actually set foot in the Promised Land! This was based entirely on their UNQUESTIONING OBEDIENCE to the Torah of YHVH!

Far better to be in the desert, alone with God, than in the most luxurious palace with Satan! And this is the choice which will soon be presented to us. If we think that the desert is a hostile place, wait until we see what kind of a landscape the anti-Christ will have arranged for our amusement. He will command, not only the highest technology in the history of the world, but the reins of power of every government, and demonic forces at his beck and call. The ONLY way any Christian may expect to “endure to the end” is by being “accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.” (Luke 21:36.)

The only way that we may hope to be found worthy, is to be found faithful and obedient to the one who suffered and died for us. And how do we do that? Yeshua tells us how:

13 And whatsoever you shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

14 If you shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it. 15 If you love me, keep my commandments.

16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another comforter, that it may abide with you for ever;

17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it sees it not, neither knows it: but you know it; for it dwells with you, and shall be in you.

18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. 19 Yet a little while, and the world sees me no more; but you see me: because I live, you shall live also. 20 At that day you shall know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you. 21 He that has my commandments, and keeps them, he it is that loves me: and he that loves me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.  [John 14: 13-21]

And we must understand that when Yeshua declared that “I and the Father are one”, he was NOT thereby claiming to BE GOD, a concept which he denied (John 17:3), along with all of the apostles (1 Timothy 2:5; 1 Corinthians 8:6; Ephesians 4:6; etc.), but rather simply affirming his rôle as the Father’s Shaliach, or proxy, wherein he was of one mind and purpose with the Father, and fully-endowed by Him with all power and authority to act FOR Him on the earth.

Prior to the mid-point of the Tribulation, both the Jewish Witnesses and the Christian Witnesses apparently have the power to kill those (defensively) who would harm them. This may happen in much the same manner as the lives of Ananias and Sapphira were ended at the preaching of Peter for lying to the Holy Spirit (Acts 5:1-10), but other explanations are possible (as you have seen). Needless to say, this causes even greater hatred of the members of The Two Witnesses by fallen mankind, because the witnesses are 100% protected by the unseen hand of God.

Important Note: There is NO indication in Scripture that those of the Jews who will be found righteous before God are going to be included back into “spiritual Israel” along with the purified Church UNTIL Yeshua’s return at the END of the seven years of the Tribulation. For those pre-Trib believers who expect that the “144,000 Jews” will be witnessing for Christ during the Tribulation, we ask: “Why would Jews – who deny that Yeshua/Jesus is the Messiah – witness for him during the Tribulation?”

Therefore, we expect that, yes, the “righteous Jews” will be witnessing for the Messiah who is prophesied in the Tanakh (Old Testament), but it will be without their knowing or admitting that Yeshua/Jesus Christ is, in fact, that Messiah! All of Scripture attests that the Jews will NOT realize their mistake until Yeshua RETURNS visibly, at the END of the Tribulation! [Zechariah 12:10]

And if any man will hurt them, fire proceeds out of their mouth (Greek “stoma”, which can also refer to the edge of a sword – we believe this to be “the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God” [Ephesians 6:17]; see also Jeremiah 5:14), and devours their enemies: and if any man will hurt them, he must in this manner be killed. These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy: and have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will. And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascends out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them.” [Revelation 11:5-7]

Important NOTE: According to the above, the beast that ascends out of the bottomless pit does not begin killing the “two” witnesses until after they have finished their testimony, which is at the midpoint of the Tribulation, at the Abomination of Desolation, when the devil and his cohorts are all forced out of heaven and (apparently) into physical bodies of some kind. We come to this conclusion based primarily on the following:

7 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,

8 And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.

9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceives the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

This phrase “into the earth” appears in only two other places:

Rev 8:5 And the angel took the censer, and filled it with fire of the altar, and cast it into the earth: and there were voices, and thunderings, and lightnings, and an earthquake.

Rev 14:19 And the angel thrust in his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth, and cast it into the great winepress of the wrath of God.

Both of these references involve the execution of God’s righteous judgment upon the earth, both apply exclusively to the physical plane on the earth, and surely NOT to the spiritual heavens. If we are correct, then it necessarily follows that ALL of the wicked spirits – both fallen angels and demons – will be instantly forced into physical bodies of some kind at the mid-point of the seven years of the Tribulation.

Our Lord Yeshua tells us that the time immediately before his return will be “just like the days of Noah and Lot” [Luke 17:26-30] Well, what were those days “like”? For one thing, there were still some of the descendants of the Nephilim (“giants” in the KJV – part fallen angel, part human) hanging around, and even until the time of David, since Goliath and his four brothers were all descended from that same seed. (Genesis 6:2, 4; Jude 1:6; Numbers 13:33) From this, we gather that there will be something similar in store for us, as well.

We know that it is part of Satan’s plan to deceive as many human beings as possible, and that this deception will escalate during the Tribulation. We also know that the False Prophet and the anti-Christ will perform apparent “miracles” in sight of all mankind. We also know that UFOs and “extra-terrestrials” are 100% demonic (or fallen-angelic), and that ALL of their activities are designed to get us to believe that they are something other than what they really are. We also know that ALL “science-fiction” has themes which are nothing but theater designed to persuade the lost that the “perennial philosophy” is true, and that the God of the Bible is a fraud. Taking all of this information together, we fully expect that when the devil and his troops are thrown down INTO the earth, they will manifest as our “elder brothers” from space, sent here to “instruct us”, and to “help us to evolve to our next level of consciousness”. [See our article on rense.com: http://tinyurl.com/UFOsDemonic ]

We therefore expect that part of this appearance/theater will involve the re-appearance of the Nephilim, fallen angels with humanoid bodies, and human females being impregnated by them, even as happened before the Flood, and afterward, until the time of David and Goliath (who was apparently one of the descendants of the original Nephilim). The Lord Yeshua even warns us that this is a distinct possibility with the words, “As it was in the days of Noah . . .” (Matthew 24:37; Luke 17:26) In any event, there is nothing in Scripture which makes such things impossible, and many things which make them highly probable, in our estimation. Whether one believes that such things are possible or not, we should all be aware of the possibilities, so that we may understand things as they happen, and not be swept away by events as the devil wants us to be.

The time of this prophesying/witnessing will be from the beginning to the middle of the period known as the Tribulation. This seven year Tribulation period will begin – after the Gog/Magog War – with the ascendancy of the anti-Christ and the apostate one-world church and government, and the signing of a treaty between secular Babylon (the anti-Christ) and the government of the secular state of Israel [Daniel 9:27].

End Times Timeline – From Now to the Millennial Reign

It is our belief that – regardless of where he comes from, and whether “Christian”, “Jew”, or “other” – the anti-Christ will somehow come to control the United States of America, which will in turn control all of secular Babylon/the World. It will rule over the entire North American economic Sphere of Interest, which is to be the most powerful of the ten existing divisions of the world by the Club of Rome.

We believe that America, under the Satanic leadership of the anti-Christ, will indisputably become the nation ruled by the “eleventh horn” of Daniel’s “fourth beast”, the ultimate evil flowering of Mystery Babylon.

At the beginning of the Tribulation period, as the Third Horseman, War, is loosed upon the earth, a strange message is heard:

And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, ‘A measure of wheat for a denarius [a Roman coin then equivalent to a day’s wage], and three measures of barley for a denarius; and see that you do not hurt the oil and the wine.’” [Revelation 6:6]

We take this to mean that everyday commodities are going to become very expensive, apparently due to the economic dislocations caused by the wars, earthquakes, famines and pestilence, but that the wealthy – the elites – will still have their luxuries (“oil and wine”). This disparity of living conditions will no doubt aggravate the resentment of the people against the extravagances of the elites, and cause additional problems for them and for the government – food riots, perhaps, or worse.

Under such conditions, those who have jobs will be envied by those who do not. If those who have the jobs are “immigrants” – or the despised Christians – they will be deeply resented by “native” Americans – or by non-Christians or Gentiles – and so around the world. This will undoubtedly be a source of considerable strife around the world.

Beyond all of this conjecture, there is another whole list of questions to be asked. For example, it is apparent that our witness is to be a public plea to the lost to repent and to accept the Lord Yeshua as Lord and Savior, from the beginning until the middle of the Tribulation (a period of 3½ years), during which time the “bad guys” cannot harm us without being killed themselves. Thereafter, it is apparent that many of the witnesses will be killed by the anti-Christ’s forces, but that not all will be.

Preparing Satan’s Human Sock-Puppets . . .

It is already being “taught” by the New Age “spirit guides” that begotten-again Christians are the ones responsible for mankind’s “failure to evolve to the next higher plane of existence.” New Agers believe that Christians are obstacles to mankind’s “true” spiritual progress. It seems that, with our stubborn refusal to join with them in some kind of a cosmic-consciousness Star-Trek “Vulcan mind-meld”, we are preventing them from attaining the critical-mass of human consciousness necessary for mankind to “evolve” to its next higher level. Again, we are not making this up.

It is for this reason that many Bible commentators (the authors included) expect that when Satan’s fallen angels are “thrown down into the earth” near the mid-point of the Tribulation, they will actually arrive in the guise of “E.T.” “visitors from space” seeking to “help” mankind “evolve” to its “next level”. Needless to say, New Agers are already looking forward to just such an event, and would no doubt welcome such “intergalactic travelers” with hysterical glee.

There is no doubt in our minds that UFO’s, alien abductions, etc., are entirely demonic. [ See our article “UFOs – Demonic Deception?” @ http://www..rense.com/general32/expose.htm ] If so, then those who believe in and who actually seek such encounters have swallowed yet another major demonic deception. They are merely being “prepped” by demonic forces today for the coming Big Day – the Abomination of Desolation – when the “space vermin” (Nephilim II) – suddenly (re) appear on the scene for real.

But the question remains as to how the Church is supposed to behave during the second half of Daniel’s Seventieth Week, the “time of Jacob’s trouble”, “the Great Tribulation”. Actually, our Lord has offered some very specific counsel concerning this, advice which has been completely negated by “Christianity”, through “interpretations”, apparently because of the preachers’ desire to avoid telling us that we may have to actually step out in faith at the crucial moment, and to leave everything familiar and safe behind us, and to flee headlong into an apparently very hostile, threatening, and unfriendly environment, with NO ASSURANCE whatsoever that we will have any help whatsoever (except his!):

1. What we are expected to DO in that very MOMENT . . .

15 When you therefore shall see the Abomination of Desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place [1 Corinthians 3:16], (whoever reads this, let him understand:)

16 Then let them which be in Judah [Strong’s G2453 ioudaios, “belonging to Yehudah/ Judah”, Yeshua’s tribe] flee into the mountains: [Genesis 19:17; Exodus 3:1; 19:3; Deuteronomy 33:19; Joshua 2:16; Joshua 2:22; 1 Samuel 23:14; Psalm 11:1; 48:1; Isaiah 2:2-3;2:9; 25:6-9; 30:29; 40:9; 57:13-15; 65:25; 66:20; Jeremiah 3:6; Ezekiel 20:40; Micah 4:1-ff.]

17 Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house:

18 Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes.

19 And woe unto them that are pregnant, and to them that are nursing infants in those days!

20 But pray that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:

21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be again. (Matthew 24:15-22)

2. How to BEHAVE . . .

Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: therefore be as wise as serpents, and as harmless as doves. But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to the councils, and they will whip you in their synagogues; and you shall be brought before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony [i.e., a witness] against them and the Gentiles. But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what you shall speak: for it shall be given to you in that same hour what you shall speak. For it is not you that speak, but the holy Spirit of your Father which speaks in you.

And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death. And you shall be hated by all men for my name’s sake: but he that endures to the end shall be saved. But when they persecute you in this city, flee into another: for verily I say unto you, you shall not have gone over the cities of Israel, till the Son of man be come.

The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord. It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house the devil, how much more shall they call them of his household? Therefore do not fear them: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and nothing hidden, that shall not be known. What I tell you in darkness, speak in the light: and what you hear in your ear, preach upon the housetops.

And do not fear them who kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in sheol (the grave). Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them shall fall to the ground without your Father’s knowledge. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear, therefore, for you are of more value than many sparrows.

Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father in heaven. But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father in heaven. Do not think that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. And a man’s enemies shall be those of his own household. He that loves his father or mother more than he loves me is not worthy of me: and he that loves his son or daughter more than he loves me is not worthy of me. And he that does not take his cross and follow after me, is not worthy of me. He that finds his life shall lose it: and he that loses his life for my sake shall find it.” [Matthew 10:16-39]

Next, please consider carefully the story of Jonah.

Now the word of YHVH came unto Jonah the son of Amittai, saying, ‘Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry against it; for their wickedness is come up before me.’ But Jonah rose up to flee unto Tarshish from the presence of YHVH…” [Jonah 1:1-3]

In other words, God called Jonah to be a WITNESS for Him against the wickedness of “that great city”, but Jonah would not. What happened? Despite his best efforts at avoiding the responsibility that God had thrust upon him, he ended up in the belly of a very special, and very large sea creature which was specially created by YHVH for the purpose of getting Jonah’s attention. [Jonah 1:17]

Next, consider carefully Revelation 13:1:

And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.”

Knowing, as we now do, that this new “beast” is the Satanic embodiment of the wicked world system called Mystery Babylon (“the great city”), and that the “Two Witnesses” are the Church and “Torah-true Jews”, and that they are charged by God with the responsibility of witnessing to it until the mid-point of the Tribulation, what conclusions might we draw concerning the fate of those who consider themselves to be part of the Church, the Body of Christ, but who refuse this commission, even as Jonah did?

Jonah only escaped from the belly of his own personal “beast” by repenting (and obeying) while he still could. And, he went on to obey God (reluctantly), and Nineveh was saved by his preaching, much to Jonah’s disgust. We take this lesson to mean that we may likewise expect to end up in the “belly of the beast” unless we also likewise witness to our own “great city” during the first half of the Tribulation. These lessons are not in the Bible by accident! But there seems to be some hope of support for the Two Witnesses in all this turmoil, for Yeshua holds out this specific promise for them:

He that receives you receives me, and he that receives me receives Him that sent me. He that receives a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward; and he that receives a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man’s reward. And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these lesser ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no way lose his reward.” [Matthew 10:40-42]

As mentioned before, there should be no doubt in any Torah-obedient Christian’s mind that this is exactly what YHVH will soon require of those of us who are entirely and truly His, who intend to “wholly follow Him”, as did Joshua and Caleb, alone of all those who left Egypt. They were also the ONLY TWO of legal age in that original group of millions who were allowed to actually set foot in the Promised Land! This was based entirely on their UNQUESTIONING OBEDIENCE to the commandments of YHVH! (Numbers 32:11-12)

Nevertheless, what should be clear by now is that the world is already on the slippery slope, and is picking up speed toward the edge of the abyss with each passing day. We can do nothing to prevent it. All we can do is witness today, and plan for tomorrow. Personally, we are planning to be obedient to the ONLY literal instruction from our Lord that can be cited in the New Testament concerning what his disciples are supposed to DO in the very moment that we SEE the unmistakable evidence of the Abomination of Desolation all around us:

FLEE.

NOTE: By “witnessing”, we do not suggest that anyone try to win converts to Christ by telling them what is in this article. “Witnessing” today is still a matter of asking people whether they know that Jesus/Yeshua loves them, that God has a plan for their life, explaining the Gospel of the Kingdom of God, etc. We must always remember that the unsaved do not care how much we know, until they know how much we care, and why.
