Evidence for a pre-Adamic Race?
In his 1876 classic work, “Earth’s Earliest Ages”, G.H. Pember finds evidence in the Bible of a pre-Adamic race on the earth which was ruled by Satan. He reasons that it was during his prior reign of this kingdom on earth that his overweening pride became manifest, and wickedness spread throughout his realm, necessitating the destruction by God of that world and all who were in it.
The very first suggestion that there may have been a pre-existing world before the Adamic time period is in the specific words in Genesis 1:1-2 used to describe what was, “in the beginning”. This is usually translated as follows:
“In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
And the earth was without form, and void;” (KJV)
The word used here for “created” does not signify creation ex nihilo (out of nothing), but rather that something is being fashioned out of pre-existing stuff. The phrase rendered as “without form” is more accurately translated as “a desolate wasteland”. The term rendered as “void” would be better translated as “an undistinguishable ruin”. Neither of these could be taken to signify that there was nothingness being described, but rather a featureless, ruined wasteland, as though a great universal catastrophe had previously taken place.
If this was accomplished instantaneously by God, the spirits of those killed could correspond to the disembodied spirits we know here today as “demons”, which are apparently a different order of creation, and distinct from fallen angels. Pember also observes that nowhere does the Bible state that “God created the world from nothing in six days” – despite there being at least one Hebrew word which could have been used to denote that specific sense.
Part of the circumstantial evidence he adduces in support of this argument is the absence of “and God saw that it was good” on the second day of creation. This is the ONLY day of “creation” which is missing this comment. If the “heavens” and atmosphere of the newly renovated earth were full of wicked demons, He could hardly have called it “good”.
Such a world could have existed for quite a long time indeed, both before and after its first destruction, and thus allowed for the formation of fossiliferous strata as are now observed, from the depths of coal mines to the highest mountain peaks, while the Biblical account of “creation” (the re-fashioning of the ruined world) could indeed have been accomplished in six literal days as the Bible unquestionably states.
Also, God pronouncing His work as “very good” is not the same as stating that it was perfect. It was as good as it could be, given what was in it. And, we know from Isaiah 45:7 (KJV) that God does create evil.
“I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and
create evil (“ra”): I YHVH do all these things.” Isaiah 45:7 (KJV)
We feel that Pember’s scenario best fits the available evidence, including sound Biblical exegesis, and far better than one in which fossils of long extinct species appear almost magically in geological strata in an improbably short period of 6,000 years. In short, it seems to resolve the long-standing arguments between Biblical literalists and those who have been forced to come up with all sorts of equally inadequate “fudgefactors” (the “day/age” theory, “progressive creation”, etc.) to account for the obvious discrepancies between the scientifically observable evidence and the traditional interpretation of the Bible creation account.
~~~~~~~Bible verses in support of the above~~~~~~~
Establishing from the Bible that fallen angels had sex with human women, and physical children resulted from these forbidden unions…
1 And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them,
2 That the sons of God (Heb: bnai Elohim) saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.
3 And YHVH said, “My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.”
4 There were Nephilim (the fallen ones) in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bore children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.
Establishing from the Bible that these particular fallen angels have been imprisoned by YHVH Elohim, separated from their fellow fallen angels until the final Judgment…
2 Peter 2:4
4 For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but cast them into Sheol and committed them to pits of darkness, reserved for judgment…
And angels who did not keep to their own (spiritual) domain, but abandoned their proper abode, He has kept in eternal bonds under darkness until the judgment of the great day. Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh (forbidden sexual partners), are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.
Establishing from the Bible that Satan had a pre-Adamic, physical kingdom on the earth, and its name was Babylon, and YHVH Elohim destroyed it for cause…
3 And it shall come to pass in the day that YHVH shall give you rest from your sorrow, and from your fear, and from the hard bondage wherein you wast made to serve,
4 That you shall take up this proverb against the king of Babylon, and say, How has the oppressor ceased! the golden city ceased!
5 YHVH has broken the staff of the wicked, and the scepter of the rulers.
6 He who smote the people in wrath with a continual stroke, he that ruled the nations in anger, is persecuted, and none hinders.
7 The whole earth is at rest, and is quiet: they break forth into singing.
8 Yea, the fir trees rejoice at you, and the cedars of Lebanon, saying, Since you were cut down, no axe wielder is come up against us.
9 Sheol from beneath is moved for you to meet you at your coming: it stirs up the dead for you, even all the chief ones of the earth; it has raised up from their thrones all the kings of the nations.
10 All they shall speak and say unto you, ‘Have you also become as weak as we? Have you become like unto us?’
11 your pomp is brought down to the grave, and the noise of your viols: the worm is spread under you, and the worms cover you. [This speaks of an entity with a fleshly body.]
12 “How you have fallen from heaven, O Lucifer ( Heylel, bright morning star), son of the dawn! You have been cut down to the earth, you who have weakened the nations!
13 “But you said in your heart, ‘I will ascend to heaven; I will raise my throne above the stars (angels) of God, And I will sit on the mount of assembly in the recesses of the north.
14 ‘I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.’
15 “Nevertheless you will be thrust down to Sheol, to the recesses of the pit.
16 They that see you shall narrowly look upon you, and consider you, saying, Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms;
17 That made the world as a wilderness, and destroyed the cities thereof; that opened not the house of his prisoners?
18 All the kings of the nations, even all of them, lie in glory, every one in his own house.
19 But you are cast out of your grave like an abominable branch, and as the raiment of those that are slain, thrust through with a sword, that go down to the stones of the pit; as a carcass trodden under feet.
20 you shall not be joined with them in burial, because you have destroyed your land, and slain your people: the seed of evildoers shall never be renowned.
21 Prepare slaughter for his children for the sins of their fathers; that they do not rise, nor possess the land, nor fill the face of the world with cities.
22 For I will rise up against them, says YHVH of hosts, and cut off from Babylon the name, and remnant, and son, and nephew, says YHVH.
23 I will also make it a possession for herons, and pools of water: and I will sweep it with the broom of destruction, says YHVH of hosts.
24 YHVH of hosts has sworn, saying, Surely as I have thought, so shall it come to pass; and as I have purposed, so shall it stand:
25 That I will break the Assyrian (the last of the human rulers acting as the agents of the King of Babylon) in my land, and upon my mountains tread him under foot: then shall his yoke (control) depart from off them, and his burden depart from off their shoulders.
26 This is the purpose that is planned upon the whole earth: and this is the hand that is stretched out upon all the nations.
27 For YHVH of hosts has purposed, and who shall reverse it? and His hand is stretched out, and who shall turn it back?
12 “Son of man, take up a lamentation over the king of Tyre (another title for Satan) and say to him, ‘Thus says YHVH Elohim, “You had the seal of perfection, Full of wisdom and perfect in beauty.
13 “You were in Eden, the garden of God; Every precious stone was your covering: The ruby, the topaz and the diamond; The beryl, the onyx and the jasper; The lapis lazuli, the turquoise and the emerald; And the gold, the workmanship of your settings and sockets, was in you. On the day that you were created they were prepared.
14 “You were the anointed cherub who covers, and I placed you there. You were on the holy mountain of God; You walked in the midst of the stones of fire.
15 “You were blameless in your ways from the day you were created until evil was found in you.
Establishing from the Bible that the Nephilim (offspring of fallen angels and human females) were on the earth in Noah’s day…
4 There were Nephilim in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bore children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.
5 And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
6 And it repented YHVH that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.
7 And YHVH said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for I regret that I have made them.
8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of YHVH.
Establishing from the Bible that our Lord Yeshua prophesied that the end times will be very similar to the time of Noah…
22 And He said to the disciples, “The days will come when you will long to see one of the days of the Son of Man, and you will not see it.
23 “They will say to you, ‘Look there! Look here!’ Do not go away, and do not run after them.
24 “For just as the lightning, when it flashes out of one part of the sky, shines to the other part of the sky, so will the Son of Man be in his day.
25 “But first he must suffer many things and be rejected by this generation.
26 “And just as it happened in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man:
27 they were eating, they were drinking, they were marrying, they were being given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all.
28 “It was the same as happened in the days of Lot: they were eating, they were drinking, they were buying, they were selling, they were planting, they were building;
29 but on the day that Lot went out from Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all.
30 “It will be just the same on the day that the Son of Man is revealed.
We pray that this study will be of help to you in understanding the world around us. Shalom aleichem! (Peace be unto you.)
