The Perils of Pauline. . .
by Bob & Suzanne Hamrick
NOTE: We use the Creator’s original Self-given Hebrew Name, YHVH (which we pronounce Ye-hu’-ah), and the original Hebrew name given by Him through the angel Gabriel (Matthew 1:21) to be the Messiah’s name, Y’shua or Yeshua, which is “he will save” in Hebrew (Strong’s H3442). We also refer to what Christianity disparagingly calls the “Old Testament” with the Hebrew name for it, the Tanakh; to “the Law” as Torah; and to the “New Testament” as the Renewed Covenant Scriptures. Details on request.
In 1914 a series of silent-film “cliff-hangers” called “The Perils of Pauline” began, in which each twenty-minute episode ended with Pauline’s life in danger, and each subsequent flick began with her rescue. This paper is not about that series.
Rather, we find that a horrendously deceptive and erroneous teaching has been poisoning the Body of Messiah for centuries, which places the teachings of the apostle Paul above those of the Lord Yeshua, and actually contradicts the Lord Yeshua’s explicit instructions to his disciples, as we shall show. This has even been called “the Pauline gospel”, and clearly recognized as something “in addition to” the gospel preached by the Lord Yeshua and all of the other writers of the New Testament. That this warped interpretation of the teachings of Paul is still accepted as valid despite the FACT that it directly contradicts all other teachings on the subject is a terrible indictment of contemporary Christianity.
To begin with, it can be easily proven that what Paul was actually objecting to in the teachings of the Pharisees was EXACTLY the same thing that our Lord Yeshua did (Mark 7:7): the SUBSTITUTION of their own man-made “oral law” (“traditions”) for the God-ordained commandments of YHVH Elohim in the WRITTEN Torah/Tanakh (Isaiah 29:13). The idea that EITHER our Lord Yeshua OR Paul OR any other writer in the “New Testament” actually opposed the written Torah of YHVH Elohim is blasphemous and sacrilegeous, since ALL such FALSE teachings OPPOSE the actual teachings and commandments of God/YHVH Elohim and of His Son Yeshua of Nazareth in the ENTIRE Bible!
It is a certainty that neither the apostle Paul nor any of the other writers of the New Testament (with the possible exception of Luke) wrote and published any of their original works in Greek, but rather in Hebrew (the language of the Temple and synagogues) or Aramaic (the everyday language for Jews in Israel). There being no word for “Torah” in Greek, the translators, whoever they were, used whatever Greek word which would either accurately convey the sense, or reflect their own doctrinal biases.
It is a fact that “Torah” does not mean “law” in Hebrew, but rather “teaching” or “instruction”. Taken with the inherent antinomian (anti-Torah) bias of the early Roman Catholic translators and of the translators of the KJV and later Protestant versions, it should come as no surprise that the Torah is disparaged or trivialized in their Bibles wherever possible. They were, after all, merely perpetuating the prejudices of their Roman forebears, who made “Judaizing” their “new Roman religion” a capital crime meriting death. Here are the actual public notices from the Roman authorities on that subject:
Under the pagan Roman Emperor Constantine, as a result of the Council of Nicæa over which he presided in 325 AD, almost 300 years after the death of Christ, the following public oaths were required of all subjects of Rome, especially those who were suspected of being Jews or Nazarenes (disciples of Yeshua of Nazareth, who was renamed to “Iesu Christo”, and later to “Jesus Christ”).
“I accept all customs, rites, legalisms, and feasts of the Romans, sacrifices, prayers, purifications with water, sanctifications by Pontifex Maximus (“Chief Bridge-builder”, referring to the union of church and state in his person, an official title of the Roman Emperor, later of the Roman Catholic pope), propitiations, and feasts, and the New Sabbath “Sol dei” (of the Sun god), all new chants and observances, and all the foods and drinks of the Romans. In other words, I absolutely accept everything Roman, every new law, rite and custom, of Rome, and the New Roman Religion.”
“I renounce all customs, rites, legalisms, unleavened breads and sacrifices of lambs of the Hebrews, and all the other feasts of the Hebrews, sacrifices, prayers, aspirations, purifications, sanctifications, and propitiations, and fasts and new moons, and Sabbaths, and superstitions, and hymns and chants, and observances and synagogues, absolutely everything Jewish, every Law, rite and custom and if afterwards I shall wish to deny and return to Jewish superstition, or shall be found eating with Jews, or feasting with them, or secretly conversing and condemning the Christian religion instead of openly confuting them and condemning their vain faith, then let the trembling of Cain and the leprosy of Gehazi cleave to me, as well as the legal punishments to which I acknowledge myself liable. And may I be an anathema (cursed and cut off) in the world to come, and may my soul be set down with Satan and the devils.” (Stefano Assemani, Acta Sanctorum Martyrum Orientalium et Occidentalium, Vol. 1, Rome 1748, page 105)
The penalty upon conviction was death by crucifixion, stoning, or being fed to wild beasts in the Coliseum for the entertainment of the new “Christians” in the audience. Additionally, in approximately 365 AD, the Council of Laodicæa wrote, in one of their “canons”:
“Christians must not Judaize by resting on the Sabbath, but must work on that day, rather, honoring the Lord’s Day. But if any shall be found to be Judaizers, let them be anathema (cursed and cut off) from Christ”.
“Anathema” was the official judgment of condemnation which allowed the guilty party to be crucified, stoned, sawn in two, fed to wild beasts in the Coliseum at Rome, or any number of other, equally “entertaining” modes of execution. Needless to say, anyone who was either a Jew or a Torah-keeping disciple of Yeshua of Nazareth, and who intended to remain faithful to their original beliefs and go on living, was forced to flee from Rome and anywhere else that Rome ruled. The result of this was that “Christianity” was only officially defined from then on as Rome defined it. The dissenting voices had all been effectively silenced.
The plain text of the Bible establishes that the Lord Yeshua himself did nothing but confirm, over and over, that the Torah was eternal and binding on all who would be “grafted in” to the Mosaic Covenant, and that includes all who consider themselves “Christians”, whether they admit it or not. The original followers of the Lord Yeshua were ALL Torah-observant Jews, especially including the apostle Sha’ul (“Paul”), who described himself in the following manner:
I am verily a man which am a Jew, born in Tarsus, a city in Cilicia, yet brought up in this city at the feet of Gamaliel, and taught according to the perfect manner of the law of the fathers, and was zealous toward God, as ye all are this day. [Acts 22:3]
I am a Pharisee, the son of a Pharisee: [Acts 23:6]
My manner of life from my youth, which was at the first among mine own nation at Jerusalem, know all the Jews; Which knew me from the beginning, if they would testify, that after the strictest sect of our religion, I lived a Pharisee. [Acts 26:4-5]
They called themselves followers of “the Way”, were known by others as “Nazarenes”, and were considered to be a sect within the Mosaic Judaism of that day. But even in the very beginnings of the “Christian” faith, even as early as the writing of the so-called “New Testament”, divisive errors were already being inserted into it. The following quote from the apostle Jude proves that, even in the very beginning of Christianity, there existed a single, easily-understood and easily-taught, unified faith which was handed down once and for all to the disciples of Yeshua:
Jud 1:1 Jude, the servant of Yeshua Messiah, and brother of James, to them that are sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Yeshua Messiah, and called:
Jud 1:2 Mercy, and peace, and love be multiplied unto you .
Jud 1:3 Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was necessary for me to write unto you, and exhort you that you should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. [Why?]
Jud 1:4 Because there are certain men who have crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness*, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Yeshua Messiah.
Jud 1:5 I will therefore put you in remembrance, though you once knew this, how that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that believed not.
* Given the context, the Greek word rendered above by the King James translators as “lasciviousness”, which normally means sexual or other carnal sins, is an inappropriate choice. The core meaning of the word aselgeia is “incontinence”, or befouling oneself with excrement. In a Judaic context, it would refer to ritual uncleanness, which describes a failure to keep the requirements of Torah concerning purification. It was for this sin of rejecting the terms of the bridal covenant at Sinai between the children of Israel and YHVH Elohim (“the LORD” in the KJV), that the rebellious children of Israel were kept wandering in the desert for 40 years under the curse of God until they all died off, except for Caleb and Joshua, who alone “wholly followed YHVH”, that is, they were completely obedient to His commandments.
[Note: Just as in our own legal system, “ignorance of the law is no excuse”. In Malachi 3:6, God tells us that He does not change, ever. Prior to that, in one of the first books of the Bible, Leviticus 5:17, He tells us the same thing concerning His Torah: “Now if a person sins and does any of the things which YHVH (“the LORD”) has commanded not to be done, though he was unaware, still he is guilty and shall bear his punishment.”]
In the passage from Jude, he is therefore clearly accusing these false teachers of “turning the grace of our God into ritual uncleanness”, which is to say that they taught that, because of the grace of God, it was no longer necessary to keep Torah! Does this sound familiar? It should. It was one of the core teachings of the Hellenistic/Gentile followers of Yeshua, who eventually “morphed” into the Roman Catholic church, and then into evangelical Protestantism! It was these “Hellenists” (influenced by Greek philosophy and Greek world-view) who eventually killed off all the Nazarenes they could get their hands on, making it a capital crime to try to “Judaize” (i.e., reintroduce elements of the original Hebraic faith back into “Christianity”!) the new universal (“Catholic”) religion of Rome, which merged Christianity with Mithraism, worship of the Roman emperor Constantine’s pagan sun-god.
The apostle Shimon Kefa (“Peter”) observed this same corruption and sought to warn us all of those who would distort Sha’ul’s (“Paul’s”) teachings so as to separate people from following the requirements of the written Torah (2 Peter 3:14-18):
14 So, beloved, seeing that you look for such things, be diligent that you may be found by him in peace, without spot, and blameless.
15 And understand that the patience of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him has written unto you;
16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable distort, as they do also the other scriptures, to their own destruction.
17 You therefore, beloved, seeing that you already know these things, beware lest you also, being led away with the error of the lawless, fall from your own steadfastness.
18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Yeshua Messiah. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.
This is but one of the ANTI-TORAH teachings of the Great Whore of Revelation – the Roman Catholic Church – which have been carried over into the teachings of the daughter whores of the Great Whore (Revelation 17:5) , which are ALL of the Torah-rejecting “evangelical” Protestant denominations. We know, because we were them!
In Daniel 7:25, we see that one of the primary characteristics by which we will be able to identify the coming anti-Christ, is that
“he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.” (for 3½ years, the Great Tribulation.)
It is our intent to go through each and every passage in the New Testament which shows that, in direct opposition to the supposed teachings of the anti-Torah “Pauline gospel”, the real apostle Paul was born, lived and died as someone who faithfully tried to keep all of the commandments of God as written in the Torah, and that we, as Torah-obedient followers of the Lord Yeshua, are absolutely required to do so as well.
2 Corinthians 6:14-7:1 (Paul’s words)
14 Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship has righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion has light with darkness?
15 And what agreement has Christ with Satan? or what part has he that believes with an infidel?
16 And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God; as God has said, “I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
17 So come out from among them [stop following their ungodly practices], and be separate,” says the Lord, “and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,
18 And will be a Father unto you, and you shall be my sons and daughters,” says the Lord Almighty.
7:1 Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
In this case the apostle Paul is admonishing his audience (the Corinthian church) to separate themselves from the practices of the pagans which surrounded them, and to be scrupulous in their keeping of all of the requirements of Torah, since the alternative was to corrupt themselves and their walk with the Lord Yeshua. In these Scriptures, the apostle Paul clearly equates any failure to keep the requirements of the written Torah with lapsing into paganism! There is no other contextual way to interpret these Scriptures!
Since this passage alone clearly gives the lie to the idea of a “Pauline gospel” which would somehow replace the teachings of the Lord Yeshua himself and ALL of his original disciples, HOW has it managed to come down to us today as an essential part of “Christianity”?
Who Defined “Christianity”?
It is clear that the original followers of the Lord Yeshua of Nazareth were surely not anything like the “Christians” of today! They were Torah-keeping Jews, exactly as they had been born and raised to do, and as they saw the Lord Yeshua himself do and preach. Describing the remnant of these non-Christian early followers of Yeshua, the so-called “Church Father” (of the Roman Catholic Church) Epiphanius (c. 370 A.D.) plainly stated exactly the same thing:
“But these sectarians… did not call themselves Christians-but “Nazarenes,” … However they are simply complete Jews. They use not only the New Testament but the Old Testament as well, as the Jews do… They have no different ideas, but confess everything exactly as the Law proclaims it and in the Jewish fashion– except for their belief in Messiah, if you please! For they acknowledge both the resurrection of the dead and the divine creation of all things, and declare that God is one, and that his son is Jesus the Messiah. They are trained to a nicety in Hebrew. For among them the entire Law, the Prophets, and the… Writings… are read in Hebrew, as they surely are by the Jews. They are different from the Jews, and different from Christians, only in the following. They disagree with Jews because they have come to faith in Messiah; but since they are still fettered by the Law — circumcision, the Sabbath, and the rest– they are not in accord with Christians…they are nothing but Jews…They have the Gospel according to Matthew in its entirety in Hebrew. For it is clear that they still preserve this, in the Hebrew alphabet, as it was originally written.” (Epiphanius; Panarion 29)
Every single word that was recorded as having been spoken by the Lord Yeshua on the subject of the Torah (deceptively translated as “the Law” in the King James and most later versions) was to reinforce its essential place in the lives of his disciples. He explained that he had come to expand and perfect our understanding of Torah, not to do away with it! And when he says that he came to “fulfil” the Torah, he is claiming, not to have ended it, but to complete our understanding of it, and to BE the one prophesied in the Tanakh (“Old Testament”), the Messiah, the only begotten (born of a human mother) Son of God.
Mat 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets (the written Torah): I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil (Greek: pleróo, complete).
Mat 5:18 For verily I say unto you, until heaven and earth pass away, not one jot or one tittle (the smallest letter or accent mark) shall pass away from the Torah, until all be fulfilled.
Mat 5:19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach other men to do so, he shall be called the least (tsaar – H6819, base, ignoble), in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great (rab – H7227 great, as in “Rabbi”, “my great one”) in the kingdom of heaven.
Mat 5:20 For I say unto you, That unless your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you shall under no circumstances enter into the kingdom of heaven.
Faithfully following the commandments of God as written in Torah, the apostle Sha’ul (“Paul”):
- circumcised Timothy (Acts 16:3)
- regularly went to synagogue (Acts 17:12)
- took a Jewish Nazirite vow (Acts 18:18)
- hurried to Jerusalem to observe Shavuot/Pentecost (Acts 20:16)
- paid for others to observe rituals (Acts 21: 23-27)
- stated before the Sanhedrin that he was a Pharisee (Acts 23:7)
- declared to the Roman governor that he had never done anything contrary to Torah (Acts 25:8)
- told an audience of Jews in Rome that he had never done anything contrary to the Jewish people or to their ancestral customs. (Acts 28:17)
- Encouraged the church to keep the feasts, particularly Passover. (1 Corinthians 5:7-8)
7 Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:
8 Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
So, either: (1) Paul lied about who he really was, lied about what he really believed, and moreover, left no explicit testimony as to his real beliefs; or (2) the present translations and interpretations of his entire ministry have been systematically altered to add weight to unscriptural teachings which had no place in “the original faith which was once handed down to the saints” (Jude 3)!
The question remains, then, how to account for the famous Pauline dictum concerning our “not being under the Law but under grace”? This is so easy, we are amazed that it hasn’t been better understood in the “Christian” Church!
Those who are “under the Law/Torah” can ONLY be those who are subject to its penalty (annihilation in the Lake of Fire) for NOT keeping its provisions! There are basically TWO groups of people who fall into this category: (1) those (mainly Jews) who keep the Torah as best they can, erroneously trusting in the provisions of Torah for their salvation, but who have rejected Yeshua as Savior; and (2) those (mainly Gentile pagans and “Christians”) who believe and live as though they do NOT have to keep Torah at all.
Those who are “under grace” are those who have come to trust in our Lord Yeshua for their salvation, and who will be saved at our Lord’s return (resurrection/rapture), IF they continue in his word/teachings.
From this, it is easy to establish that those who have trusted in Yeshua for their salvation and who continue in his teachings (as he requires: John 8:31-32), are truly NOT “under the Law” since they will escape its penalty.
Joh 8:31 Then said Yeshua to those Jews which believed on him, If you continue in my word, then are you my disciples indeed;
Joh 8:32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
How could this POSSIBLY mean that Yeshua’s disciples do NOT have to OBEY the commandments of him and of our Father? Where is THAT in the Bible? Consider the following, all three epistles that we have from the Apostle Iochanan (“John”):
1Jn 1:1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;
1Jn 1:2 (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and show unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;)
1Jn 1:3 That which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Yeshua Messiah.
1Jn 1:4 And these things we write to you, that your joy may be full.
1Jn 1:5 This then is the message which we have heard from him (Yeshua), and declare to you, that God is light, and in Him is no darkness at all.
1Jn 1:6 If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
1Jn 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as He (God) is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Yeshua Messiah His Son cleanses us from all sin.
1Jn 1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
1Jn 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
1Jn 1:10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.
1Jn 2:1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that you sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Yeshua Messiah the righteous:
1Jn 2:2 And he is the atonement for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
1Jn 2:3 And hereby we do know that we know him, IF we keep his commandments.
1Jn 2:4 He that says, “I know him”, but does NOT keep his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
1Jn 2:5 But whoever keeps his word, in him truly is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.
1Jn 2:6 He that says he abides in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.
1Jn 2:7 Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which you have had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which you have heard from the beginning.
1Jn 3:1 Behold, what manner of love the Father has bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knows us not, because it knew him not.
1Jn 3:2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it does not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
1Jn 3:3 And every man that has this hope in him purifies himself, even as he is pure.
1Jn 3:4 Whoever commits sin also breaks the law/Torah: for sin is the breaking of the law/Torah.
1Jn 3:5 And you know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.
1Jn 3:6 Whoever abides in him does not sin. Whoever sins has not seen him, nor known him.
1Jn 3:7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that does righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
1Jn 3:8 He that commits sin is of the devil; for the devil sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
1Jn 3:9 Whosoever is born of God does not commit sin; for his seed remains in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
1Jn 3:10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever does not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loves not his brother.
1Jn 3:18 My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.
1Jn 3:19 And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him.
1Jn 3:20 For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knows all things.
1Jn 3:21 Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God.
1Jn 3:22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.
1Jn 3:23 And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Yeshua Messiah, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.
1Jn 3:24 And he that keeps his commandments dwells in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abides in us, by the Spirit which he has given us.
1Jn 5:2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep His commandments.
1Jn 5:3 For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments: and His commandments are not burdensome.
1Jn 5:4 For whatsoever is born of God overcomes the world: and this is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith.
2Jn 1:1 The elder unto the elect lady and her children, whom I love in the truth; and not I only, but also all they that have known the truth;
2Jn 1:2 For the truth’s sake, which dwells in us, and shall be with us for ever.
2Jn 1:3 Grace be with you, mercy, and peace, from God the Father, and from the Lord Yeshua Messiah, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.
2Jn 1:4 I rejoiced greatly that I found some of your children walking in truth, as we have received a commandment from the Father.
2Jn 1:5 And now I beseech you, Lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment to you, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another.
2Jn 1:6 And this is love, that we walk after His commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, you should walk in it.
2Jn 1:7 For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Yeshua Messiah has come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.
2Jn 1:8 Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward.
2Jn 1:9 Whosoever transgresses, and abides not in the doctrine of Messiah, has not God. He that abides in the doctrine of Messiah, he has both the Father and the Son.
2Jn 1:10 If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:
2Jn 1:11 For he that bids him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.
2Jn 1:12 Having many things to write unto you, I would not write with paper and ink: but I trust to come unto you, and speak face to face, that our joy may be full.
2Jn 1:13 The children of your elect sister greet you. Amen.
It should be abundantly clear from these scriptures that, as befits a true talmid/disciple, the apostle John was totally committed to a lifestyle characterized by OBEDIENCE to ALL of the commandments, both of the Father, YHVH Elohim, and of his Lord and Master, our Lord Yeshua! Moreover, he emphasizes that, if WE intend to succeed in our own discipleship, we must do likewise.
And then in Matthew 7:12-23 our Lord Yeshua says EXACTLY the same thing: that those who do NOT OBEY TORAH, regardless of their “great works” and sincerity, will find themselves REJECTED by him at the last. In the following passages, which have to be some of the most terrifying verses in Scripture, our Lord starts off by citing the necessity of OBEYING the Hebrew Scriptures (the Tanakh, or “Old Testament”), and he then connects our finding the true path to salvation with avoiding false teachers who preach against the Law/Torah!
Mat 7:12 Therefore all things whatsoever you would that men should do to you, do you likewise to them: for this is the Law (Torah) and the Prophets (Nevi’im).
Mat 7:13 Enter in at the strait (narrow, hard to find) gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leads to destruction, and many (polus: the majority) there are who go in thereby:
Mat 7:14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leads to life, and few (oligos: a tiny number) there are who find it.
Mat 7:15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
Mat 7:16 You shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thorns, or figs from thistles?
Mat 7:17 Even so every good tree brings forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree brings forth evil fruit.
Mat 7:18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
Mat 7:19 Every tree that does not bring forth good fruit is cut down, and cast into the fire.
Mat 7:20 So by their fruits you shall know them.
Mat 7:21 Not every one who merely calls me Lord shall enter into the Kingdom of Heaven; but he who does the will of my Father Who is in heaven.
Mat 7:22 Many will cry out to me in that day, “Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in your name? And in your name have cast out demons? And in your name done many miracles?”
Mat 7:23 And then will I announce to them, “I never knew you: depart from me, you who practice iniquity.” (anomia: LAWlessness, i.e., those who have abandoned the teachings of BOTH Father YHVH and His Son as contained in the entire Bible!)
We pray that you will take this information to heart, abandon any kind of “Pauline gospel” which you may have been following, and “seek out the old paths” (Jeremiah 6:16), wherein is true salvation. Further details on request. Shalom!
